Bratislava, Slovakia

Bratislava

It looked like rain today, but we were hoping it would let up until later in the afternoon. Nicole and I woke up early so we could go on the Free Walking Tour at 11AM. As the tour started, so did the rain. Nothing like walking around a town in the pouring rain, for two hours. It let up here and there, but we were wet. At least we had our leaky $15 umbrellas from Target!

The old town area was pretty small because over 50% of it was destroyed to make room for Communist era buildings. The coolest things I saw on the tour were some of the random statues around the town,  a cannon ball still stuck on a building wall from Napoleon’s attack of the town, and a big blue church.

We originally planned to go to the two castles, but decided not to. We headed back to the hostel to plan our adventure in Prague and get a little drier. Hoping the weather in Prague rocks!!

I really liked Bratislava and would recommend it to others. I guess if we went to the castle, you can see Czech Republic and Hungary. Wish the rain didn’t wash us out and I could have experienced more of the town. Also, I later found out Joss Stone performed the night we got in. Note to self, always look up who is touring through were I am traveling!! I was pretty bummed I missed her and found out I could make it to see her show in Vienna, but decided to get to Prague instead. James Blunt will be playing at about 4 or 5 locations in Germany when I’m there. May have to catch him in Dresden!!
